Criteria was to draw an OC fighting alongside or against a Resident Evil character. I don't have any legitimate fan-characters so I decided to use my Parody-Sue Luna. I didn't want to goffik-fi anything else though, to try and keep a relatively normal Resident Evil themed drawing.
It was a lot of fun making the action poses, the background and the character designs in general. I've been playing around with this extra-cartoony style and thought it'd look dynamic for this particular scene.
This is the first time I've entered a contest. Me excited!
EDIT:
- Colored in all the unintentionally white/missing pixels - Removed basement window as it conflicted with perspective - Added bloodstains to the glass and sidewalk - Toned down the shade of red the blood was - Made the blood outline dark red instead of black
I'm gonna start by saying this is by far one of your better pieces. But it is NOT one of the best you've done (Conceptual She, for example, had much more impact).
That being said, for a cartoony, fun, and much more light hearted yet semi-serious tribute to the Resident Evil Series, I think you nailed this one on the head. The Lighting sources managed to capture the area well without over defining itself on the character's walk. That being said, I don't know if the tiny shadows were intentionally done to look like how the game's were, but the lack of bag leg shadows is disconcerting.
The Corner, whre we have the trash laying around, also shared a similar problem, with how you have light sources on the objects, but the 'Dark Glow' that they have also detracts from it.
Anyway, for a piece done to represent the games, it excels well, and with your own, personal touch of 'Leggy' tossed in, it makes it a true original.
As a side note, I like how you don't go LOLOLOLEVERYTHING BELONGS TO CRAPCOM LIEK LEON(<3<3<3) AND ZOMBEHS AND MISTER SUPER ZOMBIE GUY!
This is a very well done picture. I love how Leggy added more darkness to the zombies' side of the picture and how they are the original zombies from RE2. Leon has that old Leggy, "What's goin' on?", look, which is very smart for having Luna more tough - its very cartoony for short. Love the colors and the shading. I think the landscape is a little unstable, but its not bad. Its a very well done picture, all the characters look great, and its done very well. Just as you guess Leggy never lets anyone down. Great Job, Leggy.
You know I love seeing different styles and your style has always been one of those which I enjoy. Kind of like how I learnt to draw all on my own so the doujinshi I started was not exactly the usual manga style. I of course adapt my personal style along the way and learn new things but it feels good knowing you draw differently than others and it's simply amazing watching others do their own thing completely differently yet still doing remarkable pieces of art.
This picture has such a familiar feel to it. I don't know what it is though that makes me feel that. The curve of the road adds to the element that the two survivors are running. And I love how the big guy is just towering behind the zombies to give off the feeling that even though he's the furthest away, you're still not safe from him.
Yeee, if one thing I pride about my art, is that I never really took to trying to "copy" anyone, and I respect anyone else who follows the same. I've experimented here and there with different style, once in a blue moon from another artist but it was never a consistent thing. I think it's a good way to develop a unique style! I appreciate you can see that, too And I'm glad the picture looks "alive", I'm glad you like it and thank you.
