For the Youtubers

Sat May 3, 2014, 6:27 AM

From 2009 to 2013 I went on hiatus from Youtube. There were a few reasons for this happening; One of the major factors being a hard-drive crash which wiped nearly all of my REMusical base content. It took a long time for me embrace the change and seeing it as a way to improve myself. I also had my college art projects and studies to focus on during that time.

However, there was another reason I needed a break that I wasn't very vocal about. Truth was, I felt the Youtube community surrounding my videos had become excessively negative over time. What started out as something simple and fun had slowly transformed into a mess of drama and cruelty. Stalkers, rumors, thieves and the like only seemed to become more vile and tenacious. That's not to say there was no support or positivity; But I felt so overwhelmed by the growing hatred, spiteful rumors and rude demands that it was often hard to see anything from the positive side of things.

Now onto what I'd really like to talk about: The here and now. Ever since I've made my full return to Youtube, I've been overwhelmed again. Not by hatred and negativity... But because of how amazing you all have been with me and my animations. I've have so many wonderful comments and messages; Reminiscing the older videos, sharing personal stories, endless support, sincere appreciation, maturity and patience. It's like a complete turn-around and I can't thank you guys enough for having so much positive influence!

Maybe it's just my new perception on things, maybe most of the negative individuals left Youtube, or even grew and matured as individuals. Whatever it is, all I know is that I've been having just as great a time on Youtube now as I did before any of the negativity and drama. You've all been absolutely awesome and totally disprove the "stupid YT commenter" stigma. On the contrary, people have been polite, mature and honest, even with controversial opinions and discussions. So again, thank you all so much for being such a positive, outgoing bunch. Making videos is fun on my own time, but it's you guys who make being on Youtube fun!

Apologies to those who are confused or don't follow Youtube;
This message is intended for anyone who misses Youtube/Google+ posts

There wasn't really a lot of them to be honest, at least not publicly. Many of them took place "behind the scenes" where particular groups in chatrooms would start rumors, or people passing around hateful videos among themselves via messengers. The few public instances also tended to be particularly vicious. Thankfully that all seems to be in the past, though!

Well I wasnt aware of these assholes. Besides, I consider you the leader in the Resident Evil YT Community. Many people have been inspired by your work, and whenever I see someone do a Resident Evil animation short, I think in some way there paying homage to you like Yeti112 or Pwachi Productions.

Well I appreciate that very much! I'm happy to have inspired so many people, especially when they go the extra mile and create something truly unique and creative!

Now this kind of journal warms my heart.  Youtube and comments especially have been some of the most vicious examples of how terrible people can be.  But when people who enjoy talking about Resident Evil and your videos actually have a decent conversation, it makes things even better.  Trolls only need attention to survive.  I say keep doing what you love to do, not matter how long you need to take, and focus on why you love doing it.

It really has been a lot nicer, even in regards to positive comments! Back in the day it was mostly either short comments like "lol funny!" and didn't have much to work with to reply to. Then again, I was also pretty suspicious back then after being used and betrayed a lot so I didn't reply to many people anyway. So I played a part in the lack of conversation, and I'm glad that's changed now!

Yeah the LeggaMJmon account slowed down a lot since we both have been busy in real life and with our individual accounts. But maybe we can get another video out there at some point!

Just ignore those "wanna-be-noticed" trolls in a video's comments.

I was sad that you were going away, but I understood that you had a lot going on in your life, and that is exponentially more important than devoting full time to your hobbies. :P Besides, I could rewatch all of your videos endlessly. XD

I'm grateful that you were understanding and patient, really! Sadly around that time I left, on top of all the other stuff going on people were going around saying I "took donations and ran" even though I'd already made a bunch of videos after it and just ugh. Only enforced my leaving and staying away for a while. So I really appreciate your words!

I tried posting about it a few times on YT and here as well but it's understandable that not everyone will always see the messages I post. It basically just burnt out, one of the moving parts overheated and stopped working (it was very old) and all the data was more or less lost.

Those people just are probably taking there own failures out on you, but they aren't worth the time. Your animations are good, better than mine, many times greater than mine are.

Over time I started to get that impression, yeah. People who are either insecure or envious of the attention in some way. Of course, if I say that to their faces then they just deny it and I get called "stuck up" so it's a no win situation anyway XD But thank you very much! Though you can always keep working on your animations until you're happy with them, that's all I do : D

The problem is I am almost never happy with them, I mean I feel happy after I am done, but than I watch them over and become frustrated, prespective...movements it is always something that makes me quit on them

My problem is I used to be good, but it is like once I turned 18 all my talent for drawing decreased to the point that ornate weapon designs that I used to be really good at are not nearly as good as they used to be, and I would want to draw more but most of my life now is dedicated to tae kwon do...with some voice acting on the side

Well there definitely were some great time in the much earlier days! Things didn't seem to get particularly bad until 2009ish, plus anything negative from the earlier years were remembered and piled onto it too. It just came to a point where it felt like everything bad that ever happened culminated into one big load.

Sounds completely right. Chances are those who embraced the negative are long gone, or have matured and embraced the positive. Either way it's great that you're back to producing on YouTube, and it's great that such a warm reception has been had.

I do hope they've moved on and matured, truly. I've found most of those people seemed to have some crippling self-esteem and entitlement issues; Masked it negatively with arrogance and self-victimizing. Hated anyone with confidence or things they wished they had. But yeah, it's great to be back now! There's practically nobody left like that outside of petty complaints.

Agreed. Sounds about right for sure, don't forget that the anonymity of the internet really helps fuel those lashing outs that can be directly linked to said entitlement and self-esteem issues. It all sounds spot on. Gotta love how much more positive it is now!

Yeah, people say things on here that they'd never dare to face-to-face. The perfect outlet to show all their entitlement full force and do whatever they can to make them feel better about themselves. Oh well! At least it's gotten a lot better.

most community are like, DA can be a pain too and makes me not want to comment half the time on here,

you should keep doing what your doing, if your having fun with it and shouldn't care if anyone says anything bad

I've always enjoy your work and hope to see more.

That's true, it happens anywhere. Personally, I've only dealt with drama here a long time ago. Once it blew over it's been relatively calm ever since; For a while dA was basically my sanctuary being away from Youtube. And I'll definitely be doing that now, I won't let any crappy comments get to me anymore!

Yeah, and in most cases the person already has their mind made up anyway. No amount of arguing or blatant proof over assumptions will change their minds.

I'm not a youtube person, but I do watch content on there a lot even though I don't have an account. That being said, I've noticed and heard about how hateful it can get. I'm glad to see that your doing well and making more content that you enjoy making. As a fellow RE fan I've always enjoyed your work.

Yeah; I think the most common occurrence is usually hate amongst fellow commenters... Idiotic comment wars basically. They can be pretty cruel to content creators as well though. And thank you! It's been a blast so far.
