:bulletwhite:Resident Evil 6 - Reveal Trailer

I'm happy because:

Zombies are back. Really, I hope the Plagas and Uroboros shit is gone for good. I only hope they will have a good reason and explain why things have "downgraded" back to zombies and viruses so to speak.

Half of the game seems to take place in an ambiguous American town, which I always felt was a good quality about the original games. I really didn't like it when the games began to take place in "real locations" such as Spain, Africa, Antarctica, you get the idea. They seem even more like cliche war games when they started to move to such locations.

Most of the cast seems to be familiar faces. Albeit, these familiar faces come from RE4 but hell. Better than adding even more forgettable new characters as they've been pouring on in Revelations and Operation: Raccoon City. And it seems that Ashley has grown from being a helpless girl, so perhaps the annoyance factor will be cut down by a lot.

I'm disappointed to see:

Chris and Leon don't seem to be working together. Perhaps though it goes back to the "select your character" options back from the old days, which would admittedly be kind of cool. It's just a shame to see that, from what I can tell, they're gonna be in two very different locations at the same time.

Half of the game seems to take place in China, as mentioned above about "real locations".

Omfg action. I knew this wasn't going to leave the Resident Evil series any time soon, and it's not my biggest concern when in comparison to the storytelling. But there just still seems to be a bit excess of the over-the-top stunts and abilities. Not to mention super holyshit technological weaponry. Sure we're in modern times now and the games have been force rushed into a modern time setting as well, but I still just don't care for it over all.

Giant. Fucking. Monsters. Another thing I've hated since RE4. I don't mean abnormally large spiders or sharks, I mean humanoid monsters that are the size of houses or bigger. This isn't Shadow of the Colossus. Get that shit out of my Resident Evil!

Over All:

I haven't felt excitement for a Resident Evil in a really long time. Nine years to be exact. Last time was for RE4 and well, that only ended in disappointment. I think many of us can agree that any games to come out for this series will probably never be as captivating as the originals were to us, but something about that trailer gave me a tiny bit of excitement. Maybe it's the zombies and an attempted return to the old feel of Raccoon City days. I don't really know for sure, but something about this game has me far more interested than all of the side story slop that's been coming about.

What do you think?

Theories:

I was a bit confused myself since I had only really watched the trailer once. It seems there are a couple new characters and there's been some confusion especially with the female characters. In a few of my replies I messed up a couple places in my guesses and theories. So I gave it another watch.

I think there are actually 3 different scenarios. For some reason I thought the mysterious man with the buzz-cut was with Chris, when it seems he is in an entirely different 3rd location all together. I think it is he, not Leon, who is teamed up with a girl I believe to be Ashley. Her voice and appearance are very similar, though as mentioned, she seems to know how to take care of herself at least a little better than we all know her for.

As for the mysterious buzz-cut man himself, he claims to have "special blood" and "Ashley" exclaims "the world needs you!". Male characters with "special blood" could be Steve for having the T-Veronica, HUNK may possibly have something due to his connections with Umbrella, or every insane fan-boys wet dream, the elusive, made-up-at-the-last-second Alex Wesker.

Leon seems to be with *groan* some new female character. Who will undoubtedly be all "Leon uguu desuuu~" and he'll be like "Sup baby." But that aside, this female character looks and sounds nothing like the girl who I suspect is Ashley. And she claims that "everything is her fault" so I wonder who she might be. According to some comments, her name is apparently Helena Harper.

Chris just seems to be with a whole team of soldiers, mercs or whatever. Probably a bunch of red-shirts. He angrily exclaims at one point "It's all that bitches fault!" so maybe he is talking about the girl from Leon's scenario and trying to track her down. But we'll just have to see!

Uh.... the girl with Jake (Wesker's Son) is Sherry, Sherry Birkin. Not Ashley Graham. Chris is back with BSAA and Leon, nobody knows.
